2 · The minga
In a minga (a community work day) the land is cleared, the sancocho is shared and trust returns. There is one every Saturday, and five people showing up is already a win.

3 · The roof
A firm foundation, real protection from damp, a guadua bamboo frame, bahareque earth walls and clay tile. With a porch to welcome the neighbours and a postigo shutter to look out without being seen.

4 · The land
The land produces again in layers, from the ground to the canopy: vegetable garden, coffee, plantain, fruit trees and native trees that protect the water.

5 · The nest
Water, sun, food and community in one place. This is how every house we build together grows.
The Nido Alliance
Nido Pijao brings together the living-home model of NIDO | Hogares Vivos, the psychosocial care of Corporación Espejo de Agua, the technology of AHO!, the reach of Esto es Quindío and the strength of the minga. An alliance in formation, with open books.
NIDO's goal for its first phase: 40 nidos, about 200 rural people and some 40 hectares restored.
A dignified home
An earthquake-resistant farmhouse with solar power and clean water.
Efficient land
A family garden and regenerative crops that feed a family on little land.
A regenerated ecosystem
Native trees, protected water and biodiversity around every house.
A thriving family
A family that lives in, cares for and makes its nido productive, with a stable income.
Three ways to help
From anywhere, in dollars or pesos. Every gift is traced to a house.
Every Saturday: hands, sancocho and good company. You don't need to know how to build.
What has been done, what has been spent and what is still needed for each house.
